If you are a seasoned gardener or completely new to gardening, you will need tools specifically made for gardening. Visiting a shop for gardening tools without any knowledge can be overwhelming. All tools can be used in gardening, but some tools are more essential than others.
Spade
This is a must-have tool. It looks like a shovel but has a flat or square blade with straight edges. It does not have a pointed or curved blade. It has a short handle so you have more control over the tool. This tool helps to remove the top layer of the grass, cleaning the edges of gardens, sidewalks, driveways, and breaking tough roots.
Trowel
A trowel is a precision tool that is used for digging in small places. You will need a trowel to plant flowers and vegetables to dig proper holes. Shears
If you grow tall grasses, shrubs, or ornamental grass, then investing in shears is a good idea. Shears help you trim long grasses, small hedges, edging around trees, flower beds, cutting herbaceous perennials etc. It is used to shape bushes and shrubs, and are available in different sizes. It is always preferable to purchase more than one pair of shears.
Pruners
Pruners are a handy instrument for gardeners who need to look after large flowers, bushes, thick shrubs, and small trees. A pruner has sharp blades that cut like the scissors. It can be used in cutting branches, harvesting vegetables, cutting large flowers, slice root balls, and score root balls before planting.
Hoe
The hoe is a basic landscaping tool. It is a basic tool that has a long handle and a flat blade. It is made for chopping, digging, and cultivating. There are many types of hoes available — paddle, weeding, action, and Dutch. The paddle has a square/rectangular blade at a right angle to the handle for chopping. The Dutch hoe blade is sharp on all sides and can cut weed roots. A weeding hoe is flat on one side to chop and two points to pull weeds out.
Weeder
Weeder, or dandelion digger as it is called, is a helpful tool for any gardener. Weeds are unwelcome guests, and a weeder helps get rid of them. It looks like a notched screwdriver, which is made to penetrate the soil and remove the weeds.
